Here we are again, a brand new year, what's that saying? "New year, new me"? I think every single one of us has used that a time or two. This year I wanted to do something a little different with my resolutions. I don't want a "new me" per se, I actually love the woman I am becoming and have no shame in admitting that. It took me three weeks to come up with the resolutions that I wanted for this year because I wanted them to have meaning, be attainable, and really resonate with the goals I have for myself for the next couple of years.
With that being said, there are so many goals I have set for myself, the bar is set high this year and I plan on achieving most, if not all of them. That's why my resolutions are very important this year. In the past, they would've been like "lose 50 lbs", "drink more water" yadda yadda, just random things but not actual things that have a purpose behind them.
So here goes!
Say Yes to Everything
Yup, that's right, I want to be open to every opportunity that presents itself to me. Have you ever seen that movie Yes Man? Where he learns to say yes to everything and he has so many doors open, becomes happy with his life, and finds love! That's what I'm going for here. Also, for my girls who watch Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Erika Jayne Girardi says yes to everything and she is one badass b*tch! I love her, her mentality, and her drive. So, this year, its yes to all the things.
Journal Daily
This one I've already started a couple weeks ago, and let me tell you.. its a game. freaking. changer. I really love this concept because it helps me get out of my head, and also lets me just release any and everything from the day that I don't want to hold on to any longer. With the journaling I have four prompts I do, I have the "Let it out" where I just let all my frustrations, achievements, good/bad moments out or whatever is on my mind then. I think do a daily affirmation which can be anything from "I am capable of anything set my mind to." to "I am strong, beautiful, and loving." Its honestly whatever YOU are feeling in that moment and what you think you need for that day. If I'm stuck I will just go to Pinterest and look up some good one! Next, I do my weekly intentions (which I usually do on Sundays) and that's just what I want to focus on that week. For example, this week my intention was "Power Through" and last weeks was "Be more gracious" so really its just something to be conscious of during the week. Lastly, I do five things I'm grateful for, this could be any and everything. The power of gratitude is literally mind-blowing.. here is a post if you wanna learn a little more.
Take Risks/Do Things That Scare Me
Everyone likes to stay in there comfort zone, that's why it's called a "comfort" zone. But, this year, I'm saying f*ck that, I'm gonna do all the things that scare me, because usually if something scares you it means its worth it. Your girl is ready for all the things, scary, and all! Send them my way, PLEASE. I want to challenge myself to do things that make me uncomfortable because that's the only way that I'm going to grow.
Self Development
By this, I mean reading all the books that will help me to grow and develop into a more successful person. Not books like Twilight and 50 Shades of Grey. I want this year to be mainly about learning about myself, my purpose, filling up with positivity, and all the tips for success that my brain can hold.
Be Consistent with My Health
This one isn't that hard for me on the exercise part of things, because I love to workout and get my body moving, but the food side.. well, let's just say I love all the foods. The good thing is, I am usually doing IIFYM (If It Fits Your Macros for those who don't know) this is a "flexible dieting" lifestyle that lets you have the occasional donut/oreo/pizza if it fits. Which is really amazing if you haven't tried it, my issue is I don't always track everything and ill fall off for a week or two and just eat all the things.. because its "flexible"..right?! My point is, I'm going to work harder to be more consistent with tracking and not fall off. I don't want to set an unattainable goal like "only eat clean foods, drink 3 gallons of water, go keto, or lose 70 lbs" this year. Just Consistency. Also, If you're interested in macros or training Coach Ryan is your man here is a link for a 7 day free trial for his programs! (Click the link up at the top)
Create Meaningful Connections
Its very rare that you find a people you instantly connect with, or that build you up when you are doing good. I want to focus on creating connections with other women who empower each other, lift each other, clap for others, and who are just genuine in who they are.
Embrace Who I Am
Lastly, because I know you guys don't wanna be here allll day! (lol) This year I really want to focus on who I am and not the reflection of what I want others to think of me. I want to be authentic, I'm going to let go of trying to please everyone and worrying about their opinions, and basing what my next move off of "What will others think of me?". I want to change that question into "How is this going to help me grow or will this make me happy?" I'm going to let go of other people's expectations of me and begin focusing on what I want, how I wish to e perceived, and what is truly going to fill me up with joy.
These are just a few of the really important resolutions that I wanted to share with you guys. Honestly, at first, I didn't want to be very vulnerable and that's why I kept putting it off because I was worried how people would react to it. But, the thing is, these are MY resolutions and like the last one I posted, I want to do things that please me and release the expectation of what everyone else will think. So that being said, I hope this inspires one of you or maybe sparks some ideas for you guys for this year!
